Faith Isn't Measured

8:23 AM

my grace is all you need
 2 Corinthians 12:9

I think we have this false sense that faith is measured, that God will only take you in if you have a certain length of trust in Him. We think we can't come before God because our faith is

small

weak

nothing big or utterly captivating

that it can't possibly be as good as so and so. We've flunked. Messed up. We're dirty, broken, used. We aren't like the other 'good Christians' and often we look around and feel as though we'll never make it to the place so many others are at.
But God doesn't measure faith. He doesn't look at you and compare. He doesn't love you any less for feeling any less.
Faith no matter how big...

still brings you to the throne of Christ.

still begs for God to listen

still longs and listens for answers

| Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified. Galations 2:16 |

Imagine putting all your faith into this boat...a boat that will take you to Australia. The boat is one you built yourself with Popsicle sticks no less. You throw a going-away party, determined to reach your destined country as quickly as possible....you and your little Popsicle boat. You're putting all your trust with its flimsy interior to get you where you're going....
BUT no matter how big your faith in your little flimsy boat was, it wouldn't save you. You'd die. Drown. Be left at sea. No matter the size of your faith, it won't save you. The size of your faith doesn't matter but...

where you place your faith does.

God seemingly offers you a free pass to heaven which may seem as unstable as the Popsicle stick boat but it came at a cost - the cost of His son. That was the price. Now that price is paid and He asks that you only follow...

and come in faith.

Not come with a lot faith. Not come with it all put together. Not come as a perfect human being.

Just to come.

  3. This was so good to read. I like the analogy you used too; it makes it real and shows how ludicrous it is to think our faith is going to get us anywhere. It's all about Him! Thanks for sharing, Kara.

Loved this quote! Also that you mentioned "dirty" as one of the labels we call ourselves, because I've been using that one for myself a lot lately.
